Not all Cairns that come into rescue get adopted. Occasionally a Cairn in our program will show incorrigible human aggression, even after involving a professional trainer, and when that happens we are faced with the difficult decision of putting the dog down because we cannot safely place it. Other times, we will take a dog that has a serious medical condition, such as seizures, heartworm, or congestive heart failure or a Cairn that is very old and has not been well cared for in its younger years, and that Cairn may die while in our care and before being adopted. All Cairns in our program are treated like family dogs by our foster homes, so we take comfort in knowing that those dogs that do not make it to a forever home, nonetheless knew love in their foster homes in their final days.
We dedicate this page to their memory. We also dedicate this page to the memory of those graduates of our rescue program that passed after they were adopted.
